Nutrition tends to be the biggest hurdle for most. We live in an age where unhealthy eating habits are the norm. We’re bombarded with unhealthy foods from tv commercials, billboards, and social media. So if you struggle in this area you are not alone. I’m a big believer in “health starts from the inside out.” So I want you to pay close attention to everything you eat, drink, or put in your body for the next 23 days.
In this program, you will find a meal plan that should be used as a guide. You do not have to follow this plan. It’s completely optional. However, you have to find the meals that work for your genetics and lifestyle. What works for some may not work for others. Try different plans until you find what will work for YOU. It’s all trial and error. Don’t give up and give yourself grace, but nutrition is a huge part of living a healthy life. The more you practice good eating habits the easier it becomes and the desire to eat poorly loses its appeal. So remember the rules, please refer to D23 Rules for nutrition.

For this program you will need to engage in exercise for 30 minutes minimum EVERY DAY. Remember we are trying to create habit, routine, and structure. Listen to your body. If you go super hard one day maybe you should do Pilates or Yoga the next day. I strongly encourage doing a variety of exercises to maximize results. Remember you control your results. The harder you go the more results you will gain. No days off! That is why it is important to consult a physician before engaging in this program.

Drink your water!!!! We’re attempting to hydrate and flush out toxins for 23 Days straight. Drink as close to a gallon per day as possible. I say close to a gallon because you’ll see contradictions by health professionals in this area. Some say drink a gallon and some say it depends on your height and weight. Nevertheless the benefits to drinking water are beyond beneficial so the more the better, especially if it’s not a regular habit you’re used to. If you struggle to drink water it’s ok to mix it up by adding fruit or veggies to your water. Do whatever it takes to increase your water intake.

Many people don’t understand the importance of sleep and how imperative it is as part of your fitness journey. In today’s society we are always on the go and if you add working out on top of that, there can be a lot of wear and tear on the body. In this program we will aim to get 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep to allow our body to rest mentally and physically. Attempt to disconnect an hour before bedtime and turn off all lights or tv and completely relax your mind. Also, try to avoid caffeine 3-5 hours before bedtime. You deserve the peace of mind and time to unwind. If you want to use this time to meditate or listen to calming music go for it. The goal is to get the highest quality of sleep for the next 23 days and carry this new habit into our fitness lifestyle.
